This study investigate the hypothesis that levels of bisphenol A (BPA) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) promote individually, or through additive or synergistic effects, the development of breast cancer during the menopausal transition by acting as endocrine disrupting chemicals (ECDs). The Environmental Chemistry Lab will support the City of Hope’s study and will measure the levels of PBDEs and BPA in human breast cell lines and serum samples by using gas chromatography-high resolution mass Spectrometry (GC-HRMS) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MSMS) system, respectively.
