Turning great ideas into healthier communities

Summer Lunch at the Library

Project Director(s)

Patrice Chamberlain

This grant expands Lunch at the Library, an innovative model started in 2013, that seeks to combat summer hunger and summer learning loss by bringing together public libraries and summer meal providers (i.e., school districts or nonprofit providers) to offer free, healthy lunches via USDA summer meal programs in partnership with libraries’ summer literacy/enrichment programming.  In continued partnership with the California Library Association, the California Summer Meal Coalition will facilitate, support and evaluate partnerships between public libraries and summer meal providers.
