Center for Connected Health Policy
The Center for Connected Health Policy (CCHP) is a non-profit planning and strategy organization working to remove policy barriers that prevent integration of telehealth technologies into California's health care system. Telehealth technologies can improve health outcomes and access to care, particularly among uninsured and low-income Californians, and can make the state's health care system more efficient and cost-effective. CCHP advocates for policies that expand telehealth services in pursuit of these goals.
Projects
Analysis of Expansion of Tele-ICU in Rural Areas
The Center for Connected Health Policy will provide the New England Healthcare Institute with strategic advising and policy analysis with respect to expanding Tele-ICU in rural areas. CCHP will research and identify potential policy challenges, provide information on potential sites, and assist in the identification and assessment of available Tele-ICU technology and potential sources of public/private support.
Continued Funding of the Center for Connected Health Policy
CCHP will: 1) continue leadership of the Statewide Telehealth Workgroup; 2) develop a new initiative on Telehealth and its impact on the Triple Aim of Health Care Reform; 3) Identify and address emerging legal and ethical issues related to telehealth, 4) provide technical assistance on telehealth policy and reimbursement issues to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations and ARRA (stimulus) Model e-Health Community awardees in California; and 5) develop and disseminate policy briefs and updates on state and federal policy matters.
Strategic Advising and Policy Analysis for Tele-ICU
The Center for Connected Health Policy (CCHP) provides strategic advising to the New England Health Care Institute (NEHI) by convening a Tele-ICU Advisory Board, identifying opportunities and barriers to tele-ICU expansion in California, and by offering policy recommendations.
Teledermatology in California & Its Role in Medi-Cal
The purpose of this project is to determine the current state of teledermatology in California assessing provider demographics, existing practice models, and perceived barriers to teledermatology practice, specifically as these issues relate to Medi-Cal financed healthcare delivery.
Telehealth Legislative Staff Site Visit
CCHP will provide a forum for key policymakers and staff to increase their understanding of telehealth in California. It will highlight the potential of telehealth to increase access, quality, and efficiency; to serve low income Californians receiving care through public programs; and to improve urban and rural care delivery.
Telehealth Policy Resource Center
CCHP will serve as the Health Resources and Services Administration national Telehealth Policy Resource Center. CCHP will provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of the Regional Telehealth Resource Centers and serve as a national center of excellence on telehealth policy.
