PHI Assumes Chair of the IBP Initiative at Addis Ababa Meeting
June 15, 2015
PHI senior program director Esther Tahrir represents PHI at the semiannual meeting of the Implementing Best Practices (IBP) Initiative June 15 - 18 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The IBP Initiative is a uniquely interactive partnership through which policy makers, program managers, implementing organizations, and providers identify and scale up evidence-based and proven effective practices to improve family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) outcomes worldwide.
PHI is a founding member of the IBP Initiative and as the incoming Chair for 2015-2017, PHI will play an important role in the meeting, presenting an overview of its global work around family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights, connecting its country partners in Ethiopia to the larger IBP network, and assuming the Chairship from Pathfinder in a ceremonial passing of the drum during the closing of the meeting on June 18.
Esther Tahrir, who will be representing PHI as incoming IBP Chair, will be accompanied at the meeting by 12 participants of PHI global health programs, including Let Girls Lead, Youth Champions Initiative, Girls’ Voices Initiative, Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS and their Link Up Project, and the former International Family Planning Leadership Program.
