ADA National Network/FEMA Webinar Series: Strategies for Effective Communication with People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in Emergencies

Join PHI's Pacific ADA Center for a presentation exploring practices for effective communication with people with disabilities in emergencies. The first is a partnership between Center for Public Safety Innovation at St. Petersburg College and the State of Florida to provide a course entitled Effective Strategies for Communicating With People Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and Other Access and Functional Needs. Speakers will provide an overview of objectives and course content, as well as discuss the interactions and the purpose of this training as a face-to-face workshop instead of distance learning and why.  more

ARG Scientists Present at the 2016 Annual Alcohol Epidemiology Symposium of the Kettil Bruun Society

Researchers from PHI's Alcohol Research Group are heading to Stockholm for the Annual Alcohol Epidemiology Symposium of the Kettil Bruun Society (KBS) running from May 30 to June 3, 2106. The primary purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum for researchers involved in alcohol studies to exchange ideas about their ongoing research. The scope of the symposium includes studies of determinants and consequences of drinking, drinking culture and drinking patterns, and social and institutional responses to drinking related harms, prevention and care.  more

A research paper produced by PHI’s Dr. Rosemary Cress, Research Program Director with our Cancer Registry of Greater California (CRGC), and colleagues has received an excellence in research award for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California Davis School of Medicine. The Roy M. Pitkin Award was established in 1998 to recognize departments of obstetrics and gynecology that promote and demonstrate excellence in research.  more
