Sue Grinnell Joins PHI as Director of Business Strategy and Technology at New Population Health Innovation Lab

The Public Health Institute is pleased to announce that Sue Grinnell, MPH, is Director of Business Strategy and Technology at its new Population Health Innovation Lab (PHIL), effective August 3, 2015. Grinnell comes to PHI with 30 years of experience in public health, most recently as special assistant for Health Transformation and Innovation at the Washington State Department of Health. "Sue is precisely the right person to help lead PHI's work in building healthier populations," said PHI president and CEO Mary A. Pittman, DrPH.  more

PHI's Alcohol Research Group Study Provides No-Cost Alcohol Treatment for Women

PHI's Alcohol Research Group recently received a federal grant from the National Institutes of Health to provide free outpatient alcohol treatment to 220 women who are experiencing alcohol problems. This is a confidential study and is looking at the effectiveness of a talk therapy called Motivational Interviewing. PHI Assumes Chair of the IBP Initiative at Addis Ababa Meeting

Genoveva Islas Joins California Health Benefit Exchange

March 05, 2015

Genoveva Islas has been appointed to the California Health Benefit Exchange. 

Islas has been program director at the Public Health Institute’s Cultiva La Salud, formerly the Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program, since 2006. She was an area field representative at the California Department of Public Health, California Diabetes Program from 2004 to 2005. Islas was an adjunct faculty member at Bakersfield College from 1997 to 2005 and health education-cultural linguistics supervisor at Kern Health Systems from 1993 to 1999. She earned a Master of Public Health degree from Loma Linda University.  more

Kevin Barnett to Present Guidance on Health Needs Assessment Reporting at Community Commons Forum
