PHI is proud to contribute to the National Civic Review's two-part editorial project honoring the 25th anniversary of the Healthy Communities Movement. Genoveva Islas-Hooker, director of PHI's Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program, talks of her work in the Central Valley: "Although circumstances often seem desperate with no light at the end of the tunnel, some of these communities are organizing and creating their own lights.
