PHI supports the California Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (CA-PAMR), a statewide medical record review of pregnancy-related deaths with the ultimate goal of reducing preventable deaths and associated health disparities.

In 2024, findings from PHI’s CA-PAMR So-Cal reviews have been shared in many different presentations, including to the Department of Healthcare Services, the California Medical Board, the American Public Health Association, and the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP), and at the Black Birth Equity Summit. Multiple community engagement meetings were conducted in Southern California over the summer of 2024 to gather input and interpretation of recommendations that came out of the reviews.
