Since 2021, PHI’s Regional Asthma Management & Prevention and the National Center for Healthy Housing have provided technical assistance and training opportunities to help communities across the country develop and launch sustainable in-home asthma services.

95 TA sessions hosted by RAMP and NCHH between 2021-2024

28 partners receiving training and TA, across 17 states

In 2021, PHI’s Regional Asthma Management & Prevention (RAMP) and their partner the National Center for Healthy Housing (NCHH) jointly received a three-year cooperative agreement from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to improve the capacity of states and communities to expand and sustain in-home environmental asthma interventions through policy and systems change. Through RAMP and NCHH’s technical assistance and training opportunities, participants were able to build on their organizational and community strengths and needs and understand the broader policy and systems context in which they work.

Over the course of three years, RAMP and NCHH provided 95 TA sessions to 28 TA partners spanning 17 states. They also developed three new learning modules, “Racism, Housing, and Asthma,” “Building Healthy Indoor Environments with Healthcare” and “Incorporating Virtual Visits into Home-Based Asthma Services.” Additionally, RAMP and NCHH also created two new tools, available to TA recipients during trainings as well as via online:

The RAMP and NCHH teams have been such a valuable asset for our program, providing technical assistance and thought partnership in support of our work to support sustainable asthma home visiting services across our state. They have provided responsive and thoughtful insights and perspectives, contributing both their national and local experience and perspective in support of our existing programs. Beyond this, they have been immensely helpful thought partners as we have explored additional funding opportunities and work towards long term sustainability of asthma home visiting models within the context of our state.

Working with RAMP and NCHH has given us the knowledge, insights, and confidence to continue pursuing our healthy homes work, even when it has been really challenging and we’ve hit roadblocks. Their expertise has been a tremendous support to achieving our goals and making a difference for our residents! Natalie Talis

We have benefited from the ability to learn from others in the field who are working on similar projects, access to great resources, mentorship, and guidance. Flexibility has allowed us to gain knowledge, and assistance, to meet us where we are in the development of our projects. Judi Magaldi

The TA offering has benefitted us in utilizing existing state models to propel ongoing conversations, and hopefully this type of national TA will continue. Jordan Fuhrmeister
