Solving Problems, Not Advancing Agendas

“I came to PHI because I wanted to solve problems, not advance agendas. I was drawn to an organization dedicated to producing independent analysis and research, convening and linking different stakeholders, and bridging different points of view.

“Over my twenty-five  years at PHI, I’ve been able to chart a path for my career that might not have been possible at a more traditional organization.

“My research first focused on reforming hospital community benefit practices, which took on national importance with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. I co-founded the California Health Workforce Alliance to increase diversity among health professionals in the state.

“Now I direct a national initiative to forge alliances between community development institutions, hospitals, businesses and public health agencies for community health improvement.

“At PHI I found the freedom, encouragement and support to pursue the work that I’m most passionate about.”
