Biography
Sharon Rudy, PhD, directs the Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve USAID’s international population, health and nutrition programs by developing and increasing the capacities of diverse health professionals.
Under Rudy’s direction, PHI works in partnership with CDC Development Systems to implement short-term, private sector fellowships and with Management Systems International, which provides performance-oriented professional development. The program’s vision is to create a large, sustainable pool of talented global health professionals as well as effective organizational and individual professional development programs. The current program builds on the success of a previous agreement between USAID and PHI.
Rudy has more than 35 years of experience designing and implementing international health and education activities in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. She was also program director of GHFP’s predecessor, the Population Leadership Program (PLP), and served as senior staff implementing global health behavior change communication, performance improvement and training programs throughout the world. She is one of the founding members of the Implementing Best Practices Consortium and consults regularly on performance management and organizational development issues.
Rudy holds a doctorate in counseling and organizational consultation from the University of Maryland.
