“They hold lives and health in their hands”: PHI Statement on Updated CDC Testing Guidance

Statement from Mary A. Pittman, DrPH, CEO and President, Public Health Institute

“The CDC is our nation’s leading public health entity, and their recommendations steer the actions of public health organizations and health providers across the country. In the midst of a pandemic, they hold the lives and health of millions in their hands. To maintain the trust of the public, to save lives, and to reopen our economy, it is critical that science, evidence and data continue to serve as the foundation of every CDC recommendation. We are relieved that they have clarified and adjusted their testing guidance in order to reflect best practices and what we know will work to help end this epidemic. “
